Some very special guests at Manor Farm
On Wednesday 1 September we were delighted to welcome some very special visitors - 8 children from Mogilev, Bellarus, in the region worst affected by the Chernobyl nuclear accident of 1986.
Local families and volunteers host the children and their teachers for a while to give them and their parents a break from conditions back home. We were thrilled to give the kids a chance to see and fuss the animals and owls - and play, of course. Children playing is universal and doesn't recognise language or political barriers! |

May Day Bank Holiday
Ok, so the weather was a bit wet and windy on the day, but that's not enough to spoil the fun at Manor Farm!
There is so much indoor fun and games, including our brand new Chat Room in the Main Animal Barn, with crafts, baby chicks on show, and Afra's Story - a day in the life of Afra the pony (and Manor Farm) told in pictures.
And between showers, 100 acres of gorgeous countryside, with lake & woodland adventures, animals and owls, and loads of outdoor play & picnic areas. |

Fabulous Easter Bank Holiday Weekend
The weather was good to us, and everyone had a great time over the weekend. As a special treat this year we also had craft activities in the Red Room, where Sharon was helping the children (and parents) make Easter Bunny masks, chicks, baskets of flowers and all sorts of other exciting projects.
It wouldn't have been a proper Easter at Manor Farm without the donkeys and ponies parading in their Easter Bonnets, of course, or the families joining Bertie & Macca the llamas for the traditional Easter Egg Hunt around the Lake.
Here are some of the photos from that weekend. Please visit our facebook site to see more pics! (you can follow the link from our HomePage and become a fan)

Stay and Play
| |
Manor Farm is a super venue for a Stay and Play event for nurseries and Children's Centres alike. In March East Leake Day Nursery made full use of the facilities for theirs, combining crafts in the Red Room in front of the log fire, making owl masks and pictures, holding an owl and learning all about them on the patio outside, and then having some wonderful owl stories in the teepee in Goose Woods - bit of an owl theme going here!
If you would like to hold your Stay and Play here too, give us a ring.
For more photos from the day, go to our News Page >>> |

Fabulous half term fun - pancakes in the woods, making bird feeders, and some great owl crafts!
Spooky Halloween Party & BBQ
Our first ever Halloween Party & BBQ was a howling sucess! Everybody seemed to enjoy themselves, and there was a good mix of humour and scare......and very reasonably priced good BBQ food, of course - that always helps!
There were lots of games and activities for the whole family, too, including a "Guess the Number of Pumpkin Seeds in the Bottle" competition. The correct answer was 829.....and yes, I know because I counted them all out by hand! The prize was meant to be a gigantic tube of sweets but unfortunately someone found them and ate them.....oh well.
The highlight of the night was the scary tractor ride through the fields.....in the dark........with plenty of scares along the way. I could tell you more but that would spoil it for next year.
And the evening finished off with a story about the witch who stole the children's sweets and led on to a walk through the haunted woods to find her campfire to get the sweets back.
All in all, a brilliant night. If you are fan of ours on facebook...and if not, why not???...then please post a comment on our wall. We would love to know what you thought of it, and how we could make it better next year. Thanks
